This piece formed itself. My intention was to create a traditional vase with a long neck. Through the throwing process, the vase’s neck became thin, short, wobbly, deformed. I resigned myself to the fact that this was how it was meant to be; this was indeed what I had been feeling all along. The two different clay bodies, porcelain and black earthenware, highlight the juxtaposition between myself and the relationships I have in my life. I no longer fight what others may perceive as flaws within my artwork. This creation was no mistake.
