I Carry All of You Inside Me

generations of maternal pain.
of suffering,
of wounds,
of uterine contractions,
of sticky white fluid filling up,
emptying,
laying waste to.
their trauma trickling down
between legs,
red and black and white.
their hopes fertilizing eggs,
swelling bellies.
screaming forth a pink, angry thing,
balled-up fists,
cowlick hair.
sobbing and whining and nursing.
nursing all the time.
choking on nurture,
feeling up nature.
eternally dependent,
eternally held.
