Vibrant Duality

ARTIST STATEMENT

This piece started from a paper collage that, once finished, was cropped and painted onto two canvases. I was stuck in the moment, unsure of where to go next, until I started cutting up magazines and newspapers and gluing them together. I wanted to create a painting showing layers of colors with harsh edges and contrasting imagery using straight, curvy lines and shapes that satisfy the eye. The Vibrant Duality of colors is an organized reflection of the coexistence between my conscious and subconscious mind—an equal balance creating a sense of order and stability in the work.
