ARTIST STATEMENT
Lively, bright summer colors bring this improv-style art piece to life. Composted with solids, prints, hand-dyed and batik fabrics, I utilized Irene Roderick’s Dancing with the Wall technique. Quilting includes both free motion and straight line walking foot stitching.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Diane L. Murtha (‘84) is an award-winning quilter, fiber artist, author, and international lecturer and instructor. Quilting for over 50 years, she gravitated to art quilts. Her quilts and articles are included in books, 30 + magazines, and multiple juried exhibits and international shows, including the prestigious National Quilt Museum and International Quilt Festival. Diane published her first book, Artful Insights in Fiber: Quilted Bits of Wit & Wisdom, in March 2023.
