Far Reach
ARTIST STATEMENT
As a Korean adoptee, I stopped searching for birth parents years ago. Still, I find myself stuck in cycles of loss and curiosity. Memories of my visits to Korea have faded, leaving only intense emotional moments of the journey clear. Things, people, places, and names I thought I’d never forget have faded. Now, as South Korea moves to close its international adoption program, I feel increasingly isolated and “other”; existing in my own way, but wondering if my demographic—once lost to their birth country—will become a subculture lost a second time, remembered only through stories for a handful of generations to come.
