foreheads peacefully laid together,
we eskimo kiss. my eyes entangle
in his irises, a spider web of colors
swirled with muted greens,
like forest foliage covered in a soft mist.
shy blues come out to play
in just the right lighting, and
flecks of hazel and gold twinkle
with the stars above us.
his eyes travel over my face,
and my palms drift up to rest
on his cheeks, fingers splayed.
my thumbs gently run back and forth
over the dark crescents that rest
beneath his lower lashes - if only
my touch alone could rub them away.
his hand rests on the back
of my head, threading dark strands
through his fingers; they slip through
the gaps, only to be woven
into a new nest yet again.
tucking my head into his neck,
i inhale the scent of home
and listen to the thunder of his heart.
